Good morning to the most wonderful people on the Internet —
I hope all is right in your neck of the woods.
As most of you know, we added Sheldon the basset hound to our family over this past summer —
Sheldon just turned one on April 11.

man, I love that dog.
he is a super great sleeper now — he asks to get put into his crate around 8pm, and I wake him up in the morning after I do my morning schtuff which ends up being around 7am.
He then eats breakfast in about 47.5 seconds, and we go for a walk before I need to leave for work at 7:40am.
He’s happy, I’m happy, and all is right with the world.
it took a while to get to this place —
and the carefully-crafted-down-to-the- minute morning routine I USED to have, needed to get shifted and tweaked — especially when he was teeny tiny and wasn’t sleeping all that well yet.
How does this pertain to you?
I’m so happy you asked!
because we are living a REAL life. And a REAL life has ebbs and flows and twists and turns —
a real life can’t have super strict rules that you MUST FOLLOW no matter what or the entire house-of-cards crumbles —
nope.
that isn’t healthy or sustainable.
and I want you to be healthy and sustainable.
So YES — map out what an “ideal” morning routine looks like for you — Monday thru Friday —
but then give yourself some grace if the kids wake up, or if you end up with insomnia —
if you decide you are going to run every day for 100 days but then miss a curb and need to take a week off —
IT IS OKAY.

if some person on the internet says you have to drink half your body weight in ounces of water but that means you are getting up 6 times a night to pee —
that’s not sustainable.
So Steph, what are you saying? I shouldn’t even TRY?
nopers. I am not saying that *at all* —-
I’m saying to Stop. Go Slow. Breathe.
listen to the nudges in your brain —
when you are calm, cool, and have collected your thoughts —
do a brain dump and do some journaling.
figure out where you are RIGHT NOW and then figure out WHERE you WANT TO GO.
then architect-out a morning routine that is helpful and useful that will take you where you are headed.
and that is it.
I hope this was helpful to you in some way.
I think you are wonderful and amazing and lovely and kind and precious and brilliant.
also? you are having a great hair day and those are super cute shoes.
lots of love to you —
xoxo steph
one last thing:
I have freed up my schedule to host free 30 minute mindset upgrade strategy calls — Hopping on the phone with real people and real readers is the highlight of my week. I’d love to be of service to you if you need a bit of a nudge in the right direction!
