I am thrilled to introduce you to the first man I’ve ever interviewed — not only just here on the Slow Living Podcast, but I just realized last night, EVER.

I think on a pretty deep subconscious level I’ve always been pretty wary about many men — especially men who are online and are into internet marketing.
This is why I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to sit and chat with Ryan Lee.
As many of you know, I got my start writing online in 2008 because I needed a “legitimate way” to work from home while caring for my children.
My youngest at the time was getting sick nonstop (we later found out it was Celiac and we’ve been GF ever since and she is FINE) and I needed to quit work suddenly to care for her.
Except we live in the SF Bay Area, and things are super duper expensive.
This is how the crockpot site got started. I wanted to see if I could make something from nothing and I gave myself a year to give it a go.

Along the way, I met many many (many!) people online. And I fell for some unfortunate sales tactics from some pretty high-pressure sales guys because I felt vulnerable and sometimes a bit frantic.
Ryan has been online since 1998 and he is not a scammer.

Not everyone you come across online is out to make a quick buck off of you, of course — but unfortunately many are, and Ryan shares how to best vet an online offer before whipping out your credit card.
In it we talk email marketing, stage selling, infomercials, targeted ads, and sleazy phone calls.
I think you’re going to get a lot out of this interview — even if you don’t work online in any capacity, nor foresee yourself doing so.
These are really just basic good ideas that applicable to many areas of your life.
