Hello, hello, Slow Down Society and welcome to another edition of the Slow Living podcast’s Slow Parenting series!
I am still not exactly certain how many episodes will run within this series, but this has been a topic of conversation that has been bouncing around in my brain for quite a while and I’m so happy that I was able to record it for you!
The purpose of slow parenting is to slow down and thoughtfully and purposefully plan what is next.
If you are looking for a bite-sized take-away from the Slow Parenting series, it is this:
You are raising future adults. And the hope is that these Future Adults are Healthy, Happy, and (eventually) self-sufficient.
Today we are talking (mostly) about school age readiness. Here are some key points that I want you to take away from this episode:
- You can go into things with a plan but also be prepared for those plans to change
- Sometimes what is best is to unplug from researching and just be present.
- Keep the end in sight, you are not raising children but you are raising adults.
I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and child psychology and have spent my entire adult life working with children and families.
