Ask Steph:

How Do I Know I’m on the Right Path?

Hi there pretty people! We are at the mid-point of the calendar year and it is time to do a bit of self-reflection.

If you continue on the path of which you are on — will you get where you want to go?

If you are a listener of the Slow Living podcast, you have heard me talk about taking the time to plan out your life — all of your personal and professional goals — so you know where you are headed.

If you haven’t taken the time to plan out your life — well, there is no better time than NOW to get started on that!

But many of you have been with me for quite a while, and maybe you are beginning to feel a bit antsy because you haven’t collected enough evidence that your plan is working. Maybe you keep coming across obstacles on your journey and instead of feeling like teeny tiny pebbles in the way they feel like great big huge obstacles and you are beginning to feel like you will NEVER get to where it is you want to go.

Okay.
Take a deep breath.

let’s do a mini-version of the Here & Now taking stock worksheets.

Where are you with your time management, health, finances, household organization, and relationships?

If you keep on the trajectory of which you are on — will you get where you want to be, eventually?

Only YOU know if what you are doing is sustainable.

Hustle Culture will tell you that you are behind. It will tell you that you aren’t moving fast enough. Hustle Culture will make it seem that what you are doing isn’t good enough and so you should just pack it all in and give up.

NO. Plug your ears, put on blinders, and keep moving forward.

Teeny tiny baby steps will get you where you need to go.

If you need help planning out your path — here are a few tools to help:

–>  Slow Living Podcast — there are a TON of recorded episodes now. Start listening — each one is approx 35ish or so minutes.
Plug your ear buds into your ears and go outside and walk. Keep walking until the episode is finished and then do it again tomorrow. REPEAT. This will help you in all areas of your life — (time management, health, finances, organization, relationships) — each and every episode is designed to uplift, motivate, and inspire you to take calm, steady, and sustainable action in a loving way.

–> Daily Journaling Worksheet. This free guide will help you plan out your day so you keep moving forward towards your goals without burnout or overwhelm.

–> 30 Days to a New You. After you do your daily journaling — record your plan in this bound journal. It’s super motivating to keep track of your sprints and challenges — if you came up with a few simple, actionable 30 day challenges for yourself throughout the course of the calendar year you will always feel as if you are making forward progress. Collect data to prove to yourself that you are further along on your path than you may think you are.

–> Slow Living: Cultivating a Life of Purpose in a Hustle-Driven World. This is the newest book and it is now available for pre-order. All of the teaching and speaking I’ve done has been compiled into a book. This is literally the best $20 you’ve spent on life and goal planning!

Final Thought:

In real life, stuff happens. You can not plan or research away natural disasters or man-made catastrophes and tragedies. Bad stuff happens, and it SUCKS. I am not ever going to tell you that if you just plan hard(er) or pray or wish or meditate better you can make these obstacles go away.

Life is long (if we are lucky!) and humans really do want to have it “all figured out.”

You can only do what you can do. These tools will (hopefully) help you feel as if you are able to do some planning and some configuring so when these obstacles inevitably get thrown your way you RESPOND in a slow, steady, thoughtful, and productive way.

I hope this helps a bit.

lots of love, pretty people.
I think you are wonderful.
xoxo steph
